How To Add Gmail To Iphone Mail App

Use the correct Gmail server settings to sign in on your phone!

You can add Gmail to your iPhone by adding your email account details to your phone settings. Previous Gmail messages are also downloaded to your mobile phone and stored in the existing Mail application. Here you can also receive and send new mails. There are two ways to download Gmail to your iPhone; POP and IMAP. You can use whichever one you prefer. However, it is IMAP that excels in its synchronization features.

Note: The steps in this post apply to any Gmail account on an iPhone with iOS 11 or higher.

How to Access Gmail on iPhone Mail?

Using the Gmail IMAP server settings, you can follow the steps below to set up Gmail on your phone:

1 Enable IMAP access for Gmail.


2 Open Settings on the iPhone home screen.


3 Go to the Mail section and select the Accounts tab. Next, choose Google.


4 Enter your Gmail address and click Next.


5 Enter your password and click Next.

6 If you see a message about Gmail two-step verification, follow the on-screen instructions.

7 Activate the Mail Pass Key to enable the use of your e-mail. You can also enable other items to synchronize contacts, calendar, and notes.

8 Click Save.

9 Press the Home button to return to the home screen.

Accessing Gmail in iPhone Mail Using POP

To open Gmail using POP on your mobile phone, Gmail POP Server settings are required:

  1. Enable Gmail’s POP if it hasn’t opened yet. You can do this via a Web browser using your Gmail account’s Forwarding tab.
  2. Open the Settings app.
  3. Click Passwords, then Accounts.
  4. Go to Add account> Other> Add Mail Account.
  5. Enter your name, e-mail address and password and click Next.
  6. Choose POP.
  7. In the Incoming Mail Server section, enter the Gmail POP server settings:

Host Name:

Username: Your full email address

Password: Your e-mail account password

  1. In the Outgoing Mail Server Section, enter the Gmail SMTP server settings:

Host Name :

Username: Your full email address

Password: Your e-mail account password

Click Save.

  1. Select the Gmail account you just added.
  2. Click at the bottom of the page. Click again on top of the next page.
  3. Turn on the Use SSL Passkey.
  4. Delete the existing number in the Server Port text box and type 465.
  5. Select Done.
